ROSSA O'DONNELL
Over 30 years I have led and I have been led. In sport. In the military. In business. Those who showed me the way are still on my shoulder today. Humility, Empathy, Purpose and Honesty are traits that take time to develop. When they collide the results can be powerful. In a military special forces environment, I have seen these traits enhance a team’s capacity to operate, achieve and self evaluate to the highest standard in the harshest environments. There is a demand in various high performance environments to seek an understanding of these principles so that teams, individuals and organisations can be better.

For the past three years Rossa and I have collaborated closely on RTE’s ‘Special Forces – Ultimate Hell Week’. In his role as Special Advisor to the production, his insight, strategic thinking and extensive experience in the SF and military world created the conditions to allow the show to be a huge success both in terms of execution and credibility. Rugby Players Ireland has been working with Rossa over the last few years in the areas of leadership and personal development for our members. His experience and practical hands-on approach resonate with them strongly, be they new to the professional game, or approaching the transition from their playing careers into the workforce. His emphasis on the soft skills associated with leadership and personal development supports our own philosophy in developing the person within the game and beyond.
As part of the programme of work for Sky’s Operational Resilience Group, Odessa Leadership has provided leadership development, team dynamics and communication services to our Crisis Management Teams at local, regional and national level for a number of years.
